PTFE Thin Wall Tubing

PTFE Teflon Thin Wall Tubing
Material Properties
Zeus PTFE thin wall tubing, a fluoropolymer component, has applications in a variety of demanding environments due to its strength, insulation qualities, and flexibility. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also known as Teflon®, has the lowest coefficient of friction of all polymers, and this lubricity combined with its biocompatibility, precision tolerances, and resistance to a wide range of temperatures and chemicals make PTFE a sensible choice for a variety of laboratory applications. PTFE is chemically inert, has low extractables and is chemically resistant to acids, bases and all common solvents. This tubing withstands temperatures ranging from 500°F (260°C) to -454°F (-270°C). The melting point is between 635-650°F, the tensile strength is between 2,500-4,000 psi and the specific gravity is between 2.13-2.24. Please refer to the chart below for other size specifications for this PTFE extruded tubing. This tubing can be EtO sterilized and autoclaved.

Markets & Applications ▼
Zeus PTFE tubing serves applications in a variety of markets: aerospace, automotive, electrical, fiber optics, liquid handling, pharmaceutical, and medical. PTFE tubing's light weight, high dielectric and tensile strengths, lubricity, and resistance to extreme temperatures, make it a preferred material in electrical applications where other plastics are less effective. The qualities of PTFE enhance performance in applications such as microwave cable insulation, connector and terminal sleeves, and battery pack and capacitor encapsulation. PTFE also provides solutions in the field of fiber optics, where performance is enhanced when optical fibers are coated with PTFE. The lubricity of PTFE provides a perfect material for easily sliding over delicate fibers without causing damage.

Custom Fabrication & Contract Manufacturing ▼
Component Supply offers precision PTFE tube cutting to customer-specified lengths. Various colors are available upon request. Standard shop minimums for precision cutting generally begin at $150, but please contact us for a quote specific to your project's use of PTFE tubing.

Quality, Compliance, & Regulatory ▼
RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 compliance statements are available upon request at the time of order.
