Material Properties
Zeus PTFE light wall tubing is a fluoropolymer component effectively serving applications in demanding environments. This strong, translucent, lightweight and flexible tubing has a high dielectric strength over a wide range of frequencies. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) has the lowest coefficient of friction of all polymers making it an ideal choice for applications needing lubricious material. This tubing's biocompatibility, precision tolerances and resistance to extreme temperatures and volatile chemicals allow for applications in a variety of industries. PTFE, also known as Teflon®, is chemically inert, has low extractables and is chemically resistant to acids, bases and all common solvents. This tubing is resistant in the temperature range of 500°F (260°C) to -454°F (-270°C). The melting point is between 635-650°F, the tensile strength is between 2,500-4,000 psi and the specific gravity is between 2.13-2.24. Please refer to the chart below for other size specifications for this PTFE extruded tubing. This tubing can be EtO sterilized and autoclaved.
Markets & Applications ▼
The aerospace, automotive, chemical, electrical, fiber optics, pharmaceutical and medical industries each contain applications for Zeus PTFE tubing. Increasingly, fluoropolymers are becoming the preferred choice in global aerospace applications because these materials preserve their excellent properties even when exposed to elevated temperatures and aggressive fuels. PTFE provides specific aerospace, defense and space solutions in the areas of wire harness, composite forming, fluid management and more. This product meets the military specifications listed in the quality assurance section below. These aerospace applications are just a few of the possible functions for PTFE tubing. Component Supply seeks to assist researchers and product designers in determining the best products for their specific applications. While we do provide some information regarding the potential applications of our products, the numerous options make it impossible to create a comprehensive list of application examples. Custom Fabrication & Custom Fabrication ▼
Component Supply stocks PTFE tubing in the AWG sizes indicated on the chart below in 50-foot or 100-foot spools or coils depending on gauge size and wall. We offer production run quantities of PTFE light wall tubing, but small quantities are available for testing by researches and developers as well. We are committed to the innovative methodologies of our researchers and product designers, and we seek to support them by offering small, customized quantities for their specific applications. Our proprietary processes and equipment enable custom fabrication of this material while maintaining the integrity of the tubing dimensions, holding tight tolerances and keeping the cuts straight.
