Material Properties
Zeus® PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) 4:1 heat shrink tubing provides an effective technique for encapsulating and protecting wires, cables and other critical components exposed to volatile environments. Provided in an expanded state, this material can be shrunk through heat application to create tight, protective sleeve for material subjected to extremes of heat, corrosion, shock, moisture or other acute environmental conditions. PTFE possesses the lowest coefficient of friction making it ideal for applications needing lubricious material. It is chemically resistant to all common solvents, acids and bases, chemically inert and has a high dielectric strength over a broad temperature range. This tubing can be sterilized chemically and is auto-clavable. The minimum shrink temperature for PTFE tubing is approximately 654°F to 670°F (346°C to 354°C).
Markets & Applications ▼
PTFE heat shrink tubing serves critical functions in several industries including the aerospace, automotive, electrical, fluid transfer, fiber optics and medical fields. Applications specific to the medical field include use in electrosurgical instruments, medical components and devices and laparoscope instrument insulation. Component Supply provides some information for potential PTFE applications, but generally there are too many possibilities for a comprehensive description. Therefore, as you consider prospective applications in your industry, please contact one of our knowledgeable representatives who are prepared to assist researchers and product designers in choosing the best products for their projects.
Custom Fabrication & Contract Manufacturing ▼
Component Supply offers PTFE heat shrink tubing with a 4 to 1 shrink ratio. This product can be ordered in spools and in various colors for production run quantities. Standard 4-foot lengths are also available, but our proprietary processes and equipment give us the expertise to produce customer-specific lengths precisely fitting the items needing coverage and making them as effective as possible in their application. Our cuts are straight, maintain the integrity of the tubing dimensions and hold tight tolerances. Minimum quantities may apply depending on current stock. For more custom fabrication information, please contact a Component Supply representative who can inform you of the best options for your specific application.
Quality, Compliance, & Regulatory ▼
RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 compliance statements are available upon request at the time of order.
