Zeus® PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) 2:1 heat shrink light wall tubing provides an effective technique for encapsulating and protecting wires, cables and other critical components exposed to volatile environments. Provided in an expanded state, this material can be shrunk through heat application to create a tight, protective sleeve for material subjected to extremes of heat, corrosion, shock, moisture or other acute environmental conditions. PTFE possesses the lowest coefficient of friction making it ideal for applications needing lubricious material. It is chemically resistant to all common solvents, acids and bases, chemically inert and has a high dielectric strength over a broad temperature range. This tubing can be sterilized chemically and is auto-clavable. The minimum shrink temperature for PTFE tubing is approximately 654°F to 670°F (346°C to 354°C).
Markets & Applications ▼
PTFE heat shrink light wall tubing offers solutions in several industries including the aerospace, automotive, electrical, fluid transfer, fiber optics and medical fields. It possesses exceptional characteristics for use in high temperature applications, corrosive environments and as an electrical insulation. Applications specific to the medical field include use in electrosurgical instruments, medical components and devices and laparoscope instrument insulation. Component Supply provides some information for potential PTFE applications, but generally there are too many possibilities for a comprehensive description.
