Material Properties
Zeus FEP heat shrink tubing provides a tight, protective covering for wires or other critical components subjected to extremes of heat, corrosion, shock, moisture or other acute environmental conditions. The use of heat shrink tubing extends the life of the items it covers and supports effective performance. FEP is resistant to most chemicals except molten alkali metals, fluorine (gas) and some other halogen complexes. It also has excellent dielectric strength. FEP heat shrink is sometimes a preferred choice over PTFE, particularly in medical device applications, because of its lower shrink temperature (400 degrees) and its ability to be autoclaved and gamma sterilized. Compared to PFA, FEP offers greater flexibility, optical clarity and high lubricity.
Markets & Applications ▼
FEP heat shrink tubing serves critical functions in several industries including the aerospace, automotive, electrical, fluid transfer, fiber optics and medical fields. Polymers are used increasingly in aircraft design due to their exceptional characteristics for volatile environments. In addition this material is cost-efficient and lightweight. Heat shrink products are used in wire harness applications and also provide seamless coverings to composite forming mandrels. They are also used for fiber optic, hydraulic, wire coating and sealing solutions. These aerospace applications are just few of many possible applications for heat shrink tubing. If a particular application suiting your purposes is not described on this or any other related product pages, please contact a Component Supply representative who can answer your questions and guide you toward an appropriate product for the application that interests you.
Custom Fabrication & Contract Manufacturing ▼
Component Supply offers FEP heat shrink tubing with a 1.6:1 ratio. All heat shrink tubing comes in its expanded state. However, a brief application of heat allows the tubing to mold itself around intricate and irregular shapes to create a snug, seamless covering. Standard 4-foot lengths are available; however, our proprietary processes and equipment give us the expertise to produce customer-specific lengths precisely fitting the items needing coverage and making them as effective as possible in their application. Our cuts are straight, maintain the integrity of the tubing dimensions and hold tight tolerances. Minimum quantities may apply depending on current stock. For more custom fabrication information, please contact a Component Supply representative who can inform you of the best options for your specific application.
Quality, Compliance, & Regulatory ▼
RoHS, REACH, and Prop 65 compliance statements are available upon request at the time of order.
